The New York State Department of Correctional Services denied work release for the former New York Giants’ wide receiver, Plaxico Burress on Tuesday.

Burress, who applied for work release 2 months ago, in an attempt to come back to the NFL, was turned down for the second time by state authorities. This obviously will delay Burress’ chances to return to the NFL.

The New York State Department of Correctional Services said, because of the nature of how the incident occurred in November 2008, Mr. Burress merited the disapproval of his work furlough. Burress can appeal, but otherwise cannot reapply for work release, until June 6, 2011.

It would not hurt to reapply for work release, for June 2011 is the date Burress comes up for “potential” full release, but that’s if the former NFL star gets time off for exceptional good behavior at the Oneida State Corrections Facility.

The Super Bowl star was arrested back in 2008 for illegal gun possession, and accidentally shooting himself on the leg at a New York nightclub, and not reporting the incident.

Do you think Burress’ sentencing and denial of work furlough was harsh? Your comments are welcomed.

Extremely harsh! They are using him to make an example! Which is bullshit! Therefore plaxico is suffering so someone can promote their agenda! This world is sick! You are taking this mans life and taking a childs father. Only to push your agenda.

I think it was very harsh, but I think the reason it was so harsh was so they could make an example of him...

Yes a Example is what they are making out of him. The guy broke the law , yes ... but also he didnt harm or hurt anyone but himself. I have seen people do worse and been treated more fair.
