"The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" marked its 1000th episode with hand puppets taking over the extravaganza. Ferguson has been known to use puppets during his cold opening, giving them personalities and sometimes having them lip sync songs. Well, they don't really have lips per se, but you get the idea. If you tuned into Tuesday's broadcast to see the charming host with his rakish good looks, I'm afraid you got treated to a foul-mouthed hand puppet alli-crocodile-type-of-thing, or crocodelia-alligator, named Wavy Rancheros instead.
Ferguson is the voice of Wavy, who happens to have a southern accent and was maneuvering the puppet throughout the show. He also recreated other popular segments like "Dear Aquaman" which featured a shark puppet and "A Sean Connery Holiday Memory" with a bull puppet.
The guest s were interviewed by Wavy. Jason Schwartzman argued with him. Maria Bello made out with the puppet. Wavy flirted with Kristen Bell. The non-Craig puppet moment occurred when Jason Segel recreated his vampire puppet rock opera song, "Dracula's Lament", from the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."
Craig Ferguson finally made a cameo appearance when the cast got together at the end of the broadcast for Wavy's lip syncing of James Taylor's "You've Got A Friend." Craig was subtly disguised in a grotesque Prince Charles costume and pretended to nibble on a dancer's shoulder with hideous prop teeth.
