Craig Ferguson is at his hilarious, crowd-pleasing best in his new stand-up special, "Does This Need To Be Said?" The 65-minute show debuted on Epix, a new cable channel, on Saturday night. Ferguson was a veteran stand-up from Scotland long before his late night hosting gig. His free-form monologue technique makes his show very unique on television, and highly energetic in person.
Craig obviously loves doing live cable shows because he doesn't have to deal with the FCC. He proclaims, "I'm a very cussy man." Ferguson explians that it's not done in anger, but excitement. His 9 1/2-year-old son, Milo, follows him around with an "F" jar to collect change whenever his father says that one particular word, like an FCC proxy. Sometimes, Craig will just pay $20 in advance when he has to make a phone call to his son's mother (ex-wife #2).
In the special, Ferguson covers a myriad of topics including sexual repression in Scotland, celebrity scandals helping his job as host of a talk show, googling himself, and sex with posh, upper-class women. The Nashville crowd at the taping were with him every step of the way, from when he danced out onto the stage with two character actors from "The Late Late Show" to the ending of the special in which the same guys danced with Craig while he lip-synced Britney Spears' "Oops, I Did it Again."
If you don't have the cable channel, Epix, you can do a free two-week trial at http://www.epixhd.com/ and watch Craig's full special.
