There’s still time for last-minute travelers to find deals for Labor Day.
The average domestic airfare is at its lowest point of the summer during Labor Day, according to Travelocity. Jennifer Gaines, Travelocity contributing editor, said Labor Day is also the least expensive of the three summer holidays to fly.
“Despite the fact that it’s a popular travel weekend, average domestic airfare has hit its lowest point of the season,” said Gaines. “Specifically from Dallas, travelers can expect to pay an average of $325 for a domestic round trip ticket this Labor Day.”
During Fourth of July, those same travelers would have spent more than $100 above that amount, said Gaines.
Whether flying or driving, travelers can find deals for hotel stays as well. According to Travelocity, the daily rate at domestic hotels is $143. That’s only a $4 increase from the 2009 Labor Day weekend.
“With low fares and hotel deals that are on par with the lows of 2009, Labor Day weekend is shaping up to be the best value of the summer for travelers,” said Genevieve Shaw Brown, Travelocity’s senior editor. “This is great news for people looking for travel deals on one last summer getaway.”
