Golfing at Lake Tahoe for families

Lake Tahoe is home to some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.  This summer 2010 many Lake Tahoe golf course will offer special lessons, green fees and offers for kids and families.

This summer 2010 at North Lake Tahoe, The Golf Courses at Incline Village offer world class courses, reasonable green fees and a great eight week program of lessons for kids.  Individual lessons are also available for kids.

Moving west around the lake to Kings Beach, summer 2010 visitors will find the Old Brockway Golf Course.  This course is a 9 hole, 3,418 yard course with plenty of alpine charm.  Green fees range from $45 to $75, with a $35 special for twilight golf.  If you're not in the mood for walking, you can rent a cart for $27.  Plan to have lunch while you're there; the food concession is quite nice.

Over highway 267 to Truckee, Northstar-at-Tahoe offers 18 holes on 6,781 yards.  There are kids' clinics each Sunday at 10a, that cost $20.  Individual lessons are also available for young golfers for $35 to $50. depending upon the golf professional giving the lesson.  Green fees at Northstar range from $40 to $80, with some good twilight deals for the whole family.  After 1p., adults play for $40 to $60, depeding upon the time of year, while kids can tee off for $39 after 1p.  After 4:30p, adults play for $35 and kids for $20. A cart is included with Northstar's green fees.

Also in Truckee, is the Old Greenwood Golf Course featuring 18 holes on 7,518 yards.  Green fees at Old Greenwood are $185 with a $100 twilight special.  Your golf cart is included in the green fees.  A wide array of clinics are available for kids and families at the golf academy at Old Greenwood.

Moving back towards Lake Tahoe, the Resort at Squaw Creek Golf Course, an 18 hole course on 6,931 acres, offers numerous deals for families.  While regular green fees range between $90 and $100, depending upon the time of year you play, twilight golf ranges between $50 and $60.  And perhaps best of all, after 5:30p, adults play for $45 and kids play free. A cart is included in all green fees at the Resort at Squaw Creek.

In Tahoe City, right in the heart of town, visitors will find the Tahoe City Golf Course.  This municipal course, has 9 holes on 2,678.  Green fees range from $40 to $75, again, depending upon the time of year you play.  Twilight golf is $25 in Tahoe City.  You either walk this course, or rent a cart for an additional $30.

At South Lake Tahoe, the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, is the largest course, offering 18 holes on 7,555 yards.  Regular green fees range between $140 and $240, while twilight golf ranges between $110 and $190.  A cart is included with Edgewood's green fees.

Also at South Lake Tahoe is the Bijou Municipal Golf Course, a 9 hole course on 2002 acres.  Green fees at Bijou are regularly $15 to $20, with twilight fees from $12 to $17.  While there are no electric carts, hand carts are available for rent for $3.

The Tahoe Paradise Golf Course, also at South Lake Tahoe, is an 18 hole course set on 4034 acres.  Regular green fees range from $31 to $60, while twilight fees are between $30 and $41. Golf carts rent for an additional $18.
