Rangle
Congressman Charlie Rangle (D) New York who is also under investigation for ethics violations has introduced H.R. 5741. The bill would require all citizens of the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to serve 2 years wherever there is a need for service. It could be military, homeland security, or civilian service. Right now with unemployment so high people are trying to get these types of jobs in government but they can't. So the question here is why would they force someone to do a job that they wouldn't hire them for? It wouldn't make much sense. There are many applicants for these jobs so why not just give them a job?
The bill is still in committee and being debated in the House Committee on Armed Services. It could be voted on soon but hopefully not likely. A similar bill was introduced not too long ago called H.R. 1444 which would have created a "Congressional Commission on Civil Service" which President Obama had asked for. Again, with so many people out of work why is there a need for such a bill? Just give the people who apply a job. Is there harm in that? What would be the point of this bill?
Could it be that the Congressman thinks government won't be able to pay anyone because they have spent every last dime for years to come? Could it be they expect to generate less tax income after sending all the jobs to other countries? Could it be that they plan to start war with Iran? All of these are questions that need to be answered. How did such a bill even make it to debate?
