Dan Dawson went on a personal three-goal run during the second quarter, building on an early goal by his brother Paul, and the Blazers went into halftime up 6-3.
Dawson scored in a multitude of ways: he beat two men to score short-handed, he scored on a breakaway goal after a full-floor feed from goalie Anthony Cosmo, and he scored from the left wing on a bouncer that beat both Rochester goalie Aaron Bold and the shot clock. The team captain and league MVP now has 11 goals on the season.
Dawson's third goal put the Blazers on top 6-1, but the living legend Gary Gait scored on a powerplay (with Paul Dawson in the box) and Nighthawk scoring leader John Grant scored to bring the score to 6-3.
