The Bicycle Casino (“The Bike”) continues its fall promotion, “Monday Night Football at the Bike” (“MNF”) in the spirit of the 2009 football season as a Dream Team Poker League.
After three very successful tournaments, including an event at the 2009 World Series of Poker, Dream Team Poker™ (“DTP”) tournaments have clearly taken root as “must play” events. The newly announced Dream Team Poker League events have been incorporated into the MNF series. The events are made up of a series of 11 weekly tournaments played in DTP format, utilizing its unique Chip Leader Board scoring system to assess each teams’ progress.
The tournament series began Monday, October 19, 2009 and will continue to run through December 28th, 2009. Teams and individuals can register between the hours of 4PM – 7PM, every Monday night during the series. The MNF football parties kick off every Monday at 4PM at the Bike with LA’s #1 Sports Radio Show hosts, 570 KLAC’s “Petros and Money” broadcasting live directly from the casino floor. Satellites, contests, prizes, sports memorabilia and “sit ‘n go’s” are all part of the fun.
DTP is a “team-based” structure and scoring system for tournament poker. DTP’s patent-pending scoring system allows players to compete on an individual basis while getting scored as a team, giving each player better odds and chances to win money as they compete for individual and team prizes.
A DTP team consists of three players. A team can be comprised of family, friends and/or co-workers. If you do not know anybody who wants to join a poker team, do not worry, you can still sign up as an individual player and be teamed up with other individuals by DTP. Also, the same three people do not need to register every Monday. If you have more than three poker buddies but none can participate on a regular basis, you can rotate your teammates depending on who is available to play on any given Monday or ask DTP to fill in any unexpected empty spots as necessary.
Many of the best local tournament poker players in Los Angeles play the DTP event, so this is a great way to play against top money making tournament poker players and see the variety of strategy and styles for an affordable buy-in. In addition, even if you are the first player knocked out of the tournament but if one of your teammates cashes in the tournament you will get a portion of the team prize purse. It is entirely possible to get a return on your investment even if you run bad during an event. Each of the Monday tournaments are only $57 + $10 per player. Team jersey’s are available for purchase at The Bike or on-line at www.dreamteampoker.com, however customized jerseys are sold at a discount with event registration.
The grand prize is cash & tickets to Superbowl XLIV at Miami's Dolphin Stadium on February 7, 2010. Each team earns $600 minimum in additional team chips for every event played. The more tournaments a team plays in, the more team chips they have starting the Championship event at the end of the series. Players can play in some or all of the events, however those who play often may have an edge by raking up additional team points acquired and applied toward the Championship event, scheduled for Monday, December 28th at 7PM. The Bike will also host the first “Ho Ho No Limit Hold’em Dream Team Poker Main Event” on Saturday, December 19, 2009.
The Bicycle Casino is located at 7301 Eastern Avenue, Bell Gardens, California, 90201. For more information, call the Bicycle Casino at (562) 806-4646. As always, the Bike offers on-line registration and accepts credit cards.
