Los Angeles Comic Book shop Collector's Paradise will offer special variant and regular editions of Top Cow's Artifacts #1 with signings by part of the creative team on Saturday, July 31, from 7-10 pm. Collector's Paradise Comics & Gallery is located at 7131 Winnetka Avenue, Winnetka, CA
Artifacts is written by Ron Marz (Witchblade, Green Lantern) and illustrated by Michael Broussard and Rick Basaldua (The Darkness), Sal Regla (Magdalena) and IFS' Sunny Gho (Velocity). The title will bring together story lines from various Top Cow titles. In the debut issue Hope, the daughter of Sara Pezzini and Jackie Estacado, is kidnapped and a conspiracy unfolds.
The release party will featuring a signing by Broussard and Basaldua, plus original art from the issue displayed on the walls of the store's gallery. An exclusive store-branded variant cover, limited to 500 copies made and available only from Collector’s Paradise will be premiered in addition to an exclusive limited edition print of just 100, which the artists will sign.
As per Top Cow Productions, Artifacts is "an event five years in the making as 13 mystical Artifacts, including the Witchblade, the Darkness and others, guide the fate of the Top Cow Universe. For centuries, it’s been whispered that bringing together all 13 Artifacts would herald mankind’s destruction. What ensues will remake the entirety of the Top Cow Universe, from the Witchblade and the Darkness, to the Angelus, Magdalena, and countless others"
Artifacts #1 has already sold out on a distributor level, joining other recent sold-out Top Cow titles – such as the first and second issues of The Darkness/Pitt and Angelus, as well as the debut issues of Tracker, Pilot Season: Murderer, Pilot Season: Demonic, and Magdalena. Second editions of Artifacts will be in stores in August.
Collector's Paradise was the winner of FOXLA.com's "Best Comic Book Shop In L.A. County" Award 2009.
