Los Angeles, CA -- In an accelerated effort to get H.R. 3501 passed during the 111th Congress, the hounds at D.E.L.T.A. Rescue will be taking more than 130,000 signatures to Capitol Hill on February 1.
H.R. 3501, also known as the HAPPY Act, will allow consumers to deduct up to $3,500 in qualified pet-related expenses from their tax returns.
The groundbreaking initiative was created by actor/animal welfare activist Leo Grillo, president of D.E.L.T.A. Rescue, the largest no-kill, care-for-life animal sanctuary of its type in the world.
The bill was introduced to Congress last July by Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI). It is co-sponsored by Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) and Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN).
On-going petition sites are sponsored by D.E.L.T.A. Rescue, Care2 and the American Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals.
H.R. 3501 is also supported by the Humane Society of the United States, an organization that boasts a membership exceeding 11 million.
