Starting today and going through this Saturday night, iO West on Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of Hollywood will host the 8th Annual Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival. This early summer event is Los Angeles' answer to comedy festivals around the rest of the country in places like New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Aspen and other North American cities.
Attendees will be treated to live performances from Film & TV stars as well as some of Los Angeles' hottest new young comedic performers in addition to teams from around the country. Appearances will include stars from Modern Family, Community, Scrubs, The Middle, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Office, True Blood, Reno 911, Inglourious Basterds, Breaking Bad, Saturday Night Live, and Mad TV; to name a few.
15 shows a night will take place in 3 different locations inside of iO West (5 shows per stage) with 6 shows each on Saturday night. The Improv Olympic and Charna Halpern boast many famous alumni including Chris Farley, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis, Tina Fey, Stephanie Weir, David Koechner, Andy Dick, Mo Collins, Mike Myers, Adam McKay, Jack McBrayer, Seth Myers and more. So, it's safe to say patrons will get their money's worth with shows at $5 a pop.
The festivities start tonight at 8PM at iO West and happen every night this week if you're looking for some good comedy entertainment in Los Angeles. And, just because it's an improv festival doesn't mean there isn't a good amount of sketch comedy as well; something for everyone.
See your favorite TV & Movie stars and tomorrow's funny-makers all week. For more information including a line-up of performers and full schedule, just head over to iO West's Improv Festival site.
