Ok, so you have tried the more "Conventional Ways of Dating"; hanging out with friends and hoping to "hook up", getting set up by friends and family, going to nightclubs and bars in search of a hottie. These are all great, but let's face it, it takes a lot of time and energy.
In this technological age there are easier ways to find a match. The stigma of online dating has decreased every time a new website has popped up and now, more than ever, people are looking online for love.
Here are a few tips that I share with my clients at health-e-connections.com:
Take a look around. With so many websites out there is hard to know which site is the best for you. So take a gander! Do some searches! Make sure that you are specific in who you are looking for and see which site has the most profiles that catch your eye and capture your heart. I encourage you to try a few different sites before deciding what will be the best site for you. Pay attention to price points and membership fees, that might help you decide how committed you are to the process. Also take advantage of the free membership trials and take your time to look around.
Create a stand-out profile. There are many books, articles, and tips out there to make your profile unique. Browse the competition's profiles and make sure not to use the same old line about being comfortable in formal wear as well as sweats! Also, read the profiles of the babes you find most appealing and scan their "What are you looking for section" for ideas. The most compelling profiles are the ones that speak directly to the reader so pretend your perfect match is sitting right across from you and use that voice! Be creative, be authentic, be passionate, use spell check, and if you are you, then your profile will truly be unique.
Post Pics. Post 3-5 of the best pictures you have. Make sure they are up-to-date and capture you in your element. Have a few close ups, body shots, doing an activity you love, or with your pets, nieces and nephews, or grandparents. Just be sure if there are other people in your picture that you mention who they are and how they are related. Crop out exes and buddies, the focus should only be on you! Also lose the pics with sunglasses or hats, people want to see you! Have friends and family help you find the best pics of you and if there are none that do you justice, ask someone to create a photo-shoot!
Get ready for greatness! Having a positive attitude is 95% of this process, so have fun and enjoy it!
