In what may be evidence the prosecution can use for premeditation, reportedly the gunman who shot and killed four police officers in a coffee shop had previously told friends to watch the news on television so they could see him in action.
"I am going to kill some cops," Maurice Clemmons, 37, said night before he ambushed his victims, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.
Four dedicated law enforcement officers, one a woman were struck down before they could start their shift. Their names are Tina Griswold, 40, Sgt Mark Renninger, 39, Ronald Owens, 37, and Greg Richards, 42. May they rest in peace.
Hundreds of police professionals have been searching for Clemmons who was freed on bail six days before the Sunday massacre.
Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said Clemmons may not have got far. He said: "If he didn't get a ride out of there he could still be in the area."
Detectives do not know why the gunman - described in court papers as delusional and unstable - targeted the officers.
Clemmons faced child rape and police assault charges. He was loosed on the public by Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in 2000 after he had served 11 years of a 95-year sentence for robbery.
Huckabee said he met the conditions for parole.
