We hold these Truths to be self-evident...
Sir Christopher Monckton of the Science and Public Policy Institute has written the most comprehensive understanding I’ve found of the “Climategate” scandal, Climategate: Caught green-handed. I wrote a condensed version, here. The even further condensed version:
Global temperature averages peaked in 1997, and have been on a slight overall decline through 2009. Among the six global warming gases, water vapor and cloud formation contributes 66% to 85% of total atmospheric heat retention, with carbon dioxide (CO2) the second most contributing gas. CO2 readings have increased beyond 1997 through to the present. The global warming argument is that CO2 increases causes increased global temperatures. The scandal is that scientists at the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (CRU), the main data point for the global warming argument, had thousands of internal e-mails leaked that revealed the following unethical and possibly criminal behavior:
- Manipulating computer programming to “hide the decline” of global temperatures.
- Lying about the decline of average global temperatures, stating in their most official report, "Warming of the climate system is unequivocal."
- “Losing” their data to prevent independent verification of their models and conclusions. This followed years of refusing to provide such data to other scientists to test for replicable results.
- Cherry-picking data to show their predetermined conclusion rather than letting the data drive the conclusion.
- Suppressing scientific papers with data that challenges their global warming idea.
- Attacking scientific journal editors who favor publishing papers that challenge their explanation.
- Admission to destroying some of the data that contradict their explanation.
- Taking the above actions with understanding their conclusions were driving a soon-to-be trillion dollar global tax to reduce CO2 in order to stop “global warming.”
Perhaps the most damning admission is that given the decline of global temperatures along with the rise of CO2 for the last 12 years, they don’t know what’s driving global temperatures. In an October 14, 2009 e-mail from Kevin Trenberth, a principle author of official papers:
How come you do not agree with a statement that says we are no where close to knowing where energy is going or whether clouds are changing to make the planet brighter. We are not close to balancing the energy budget. The fact that we can not account for what is happening in the climate system makes any consideration of geoengineering quite hopeless as we will never be able to tell if it is successful or not! It is a travesty!

Stewart's take was nothing to get excited about. He acknowledges the manipulation of data, and at the same time he dismisses the idea and those who think that human made global warming is BS.
I don't think one can be happy with half truths of this sort. Stewart's take was an attempt to whitewash the issue, to belittle it as a "no big deal".

Geoff writes that Global Warming is a hoax and at the same time does not give scientists the right to write in an e-mail that some other scientists are doing crap work. Seems like double standards to me.
1997 had one of the strongest El Niño on record. Which is precisely what global warming is predicted to bring: El Niño conditions. The years of cooling that the e-mails were talking about were not hidden even in the published literature and have been subject of study. Some papers claim to have understood them and even include possible limitations to their explanations.
I wish that some politicians and journalists were half as careful about their statements.
Not everyone is going to die if it gets warmer. Just those with fewer resources. Part of the wars in Sudan seem related to extended drought conditions which have forced fights for resources. Global warming is a concern only if you care about other people. We are rich enough to pay our way out of it.

There will be issues he is sharper on than others, and there might be areas of compromise or "influence" from NWO interests. But I'd rather people get their info from him rather than corporate media.
This Hoax is all about a global tax to fund a global government that will control every facet of your life.

An example of this expert testimony is Princeton professor of International Law Richard Falk, who poignantly refutes many aspects of the government’s explanation of 9/11. The rationality of this counter-government position is also reflected in the prestigious literary guide, Publisher’s Weekly, selecting a 9/11 Truth book as its “Pick of the Week” in November, 2008.
That's who they are and openings into their evidence. What they want is an independent investigation into 9/11 that considers their evidence rather than the government's self-study that they claim is a whitewash.

I think you got yourself a little mixed up. El Nino/La Nina are cyclical weather patterns driven by OCEAN CURRENTS. The ocean currents are driven in large part by solar irradiation from the SUN. So if you believe that the major culprit in GW is solar in nature... THEN MAYBE you could say that GW causes stronger El Ninos... although, the 2007 La Nina was so strong it reversed 15 years of "Global Warming" in less than 6 months.
How do you account for that?
Also, evidence of warming ISN'T evidence that mankind caused it.
As for scientists doing "Crap" work:
1. You OBVIOUSLY haven't read any of the leaked emails.
2. You also , OBVIOUSLY haven't been following any of the discussions on any relevent papers concerning AGW over at RC or CA.
The "scientists" you put your faith in, have done far more "Crap work" than the ones you and they criticize.
I'd take Watts/McIntyre/McKittrick's work over Schmidt/Steig/Mann/Jones ANY DAY.

9-11 and it's relation to Climategate?
Simple:
Both use scientifically dubious methodologies (specifically the use of modelling without revealing source code and cherry picking of data).
Both claim that a fraud would be too large and involve too many people. Climategate again demonstrates that this is an absurd argument not worth a second glance.
Both use scary rhetoric and a political motive to silence dissent.
Both lead to a massive marshalling of vast resources to achieve a goal which may not even be achievable or desirable (I think this is really a symptom of China envy).
The only question is did 9-11 inspire Climate-science or did Climate-science inspire 9-11?
My personal theory is that this all goes back to the adoption of the statistical significance standard in science. This is known to be logically invalid and yet is now used as the sole arbiter of acceptable knowledge because it is easy to churn out large sets of impressive looking, but meaningless, numb

Ever since I heard the demagogue Algore spout about this so called crisis, I've been watching the actual temperature readings above the Arctic Circle (60'N Lat)...Barrow Alaska in particular...In the summer the warmest recently has been 40'F and the winter well rarely above ZERO, with a 10'F average...In other words...damn cold almost ALL the time...All of what you read from the leftist gasbags posting here, like 2and2R4, is mis information, designed to tax you heavily thereby controlling your life and lifestyle...God help US..
HPD- Thanks for posting that. Most of us in the northern US have known intuitively that GW is a lie. However ,as the saying goes God helps those who help themselves.
