Game releases: Week of May 24

Box art for Cross Edge (PS3).

Because it can be difficult to keep track of the plethora of games that are released every day, I am publishing a weekly column where I lay out the coming week's notable (and not so notable) game releases for you, so you know exactly what's coming out and when.

---

This week, in video game releases: things get downright weird. While the 360 gets but a single release and the DS and Wii both get a heap full of shovelware (and a new Personal Trainer game for the former), the PS3 shows off not one, but two rare, high-profile exclusives with inFamous and Cross Edge, two very different games that will appeal to two completely opposing audiences of players. The former has already received critical praise as an especially well-made open-world action title, while the latter is an RPG that many assumed would never see release in America, thanks to its very Japanese concept of characters from five different publishers crossing over to star in the same game together. Meanwhile, the PS2 gets... yet another PSP port. Well, I suppose it can't all be weird.

All release dates are subject to last-minute changes, and are gathered by way of GameFAQs, a site that I have long found to be a reliable source for release dates (among other things).

Also keep in mind that all listed release dates are for a game's ship date; games are not usually available on store shelves until the following day (although there are rare exceptions where the game is available on the same day).

    2 things:
first- i didn't know that Johnny Bravo was still relevant. They stopped showing that show years ago AND it's not in syndication. The fact that he now has a game seems so random to me.

second- personal trainer:walking.. are they serious? I hope it has more substance than I'm assuming...

I was thinking the same exact thing. Why they're releasing a Johnny Bravo game now of all times, I have no idea.

And Personal Trainer: Walking is exactly what you think it is: a fitness/distance tracking app for the DS. Excitement abounds, I know.

Oh, also note that this is the second week in a row that another new game in the "Imagine" series has been released. :)

But really, aren't they starting to reach just a bit with "Boutique Owner?"
