DSi LL selling more units than the PSP Go in Japan

Bigger? Check. Still prints money? Check.

There are three truths in life: we live, we die, and Japan sure loves the DS... no matter how many forms it's released in.

Nintendo's plus-sized DSi, the DSi LL, was released in Japan a scant two days ago, and has already sold 103,524 units.  Compare this number of units the PSP Go sold in its first two days on sale -- approximately 28,000 -- and it's pretty apparent that the DSi LL has (thus far) crushed the competition. And I don't mean "crushed" just in terms in sales, I mean literally crushed; have you seen how big this thing is compared to other handhelds?

Size isn't everything, though: the original, regular-sized DSi sold approximately 170,000 units in its first two days, beating out both the DSi LL and the PSP Go. Either way, Nintendo is very likely pleased? Sony? Probably not so much.

The DSi LL will be released in North America and Europe sometime during the first quarter of 2010, under the more English-friendly moniker "DSi XL."  No price point has yet been determined, but the DSi LL currently retails for 20,000 yen ($220 in US dollars) in Japan.

I own 2 psp's and there is no way in hell I will touch a PSP GO nor will most other psp users with no way to convert your existing psp game library (UMD) to play on a PSP go this hand held is set up for an epic fail. Not to mention that the price is almost the same as a 360, PS3 or Wii.

Exactly. I can see casual gamers/those interested more in the platform's multimedia capabilities and new PSP users picking up the PSP Go if they want an all-digital platform, but otherwise... meh. The Go is completely irrelevant for existing PSP users since there is no UMD conversion program in place, and I can't see hardcore gamers really caring about going all-digital, and the smaller screen is a tough sell too. I rarely use my PSP as it is, but when I do, I at least appreciate that nice, big widescreen... and that's all but lost on the Go.
