Kristen Stewart on 'The Tonight Show'
Tonight, Kristen Stewart appeared on TheTonight Show with Jay Leno to promote The Runaways.
In the interview, Jay Leno and Kristen Stewart took a short trip down memory lane and talked about her experience in working with Jodie Foster on the set of Panic Room.
Of course, the discussion resumed its focus on the film at-hand after Stewart talked about seeing Foster at this year's Academy Awards celebration, and a wonderful clip of Stewart as Joan Jett singing "I Love Playing with Fire" was aired. When it came on, Stewart remarked about the clip's importance to her and she beamed ear to ear after it was complete.
A couple of other great things happened in the interview, too.
For starters, Stewart chatted about her experience as a presenter at the Oscars, saying that she was very proud of her gaffe-less turnout at the "sobering" event.
Then, Stewart went on to play a game of "Hanky Panky" with Jay Leno (no, not that game), beating him at a contest over who could rip more tissues from a box with only one hand.
This interview is probably one of the most unique and interesting ones we've seen in quite some time.
After the show, one fan reports, Stewart stopped to sign autographs for fans and was very "sweet" to everyone.
The Leno appearance was part of Wednesday's press junket clearinghouse for The Runaways, and as a result there are several other interviews that popped up yesterday from the day's events.
For instance, in this one from Access Hollywood, Stewart talks about her famous scenes of affection with co-star Dakota Fanning (Cherie Currie in the film).
“She was 15, and I wasn’t allowed to grope her,” Kristen, 19, told Access Hollywood on Wednesday at the press junket for her new rocker film. “I’m actually not kidding, there are major restrictions that I don’t remember [from] when I was younger.
HifFix has put together a transcript from the day's Q&A session with both Stewart and Fanning, and in the interview the same subject came up . . . only this time, Fanning stepped up to quash the matter. "I mean, I think it's just something that happened. I don't even know if they have talked about it since. Y'know what I mean? It was just a thing and in the script it was just another thing. It's not that big of a deal," she said.
In addition to doing the Q&A, the ladies also did a few two-on-one interviews including one with IESB. In that interview, Stewart and Fanning were asked what piece of clothing from the film they would keep if they had to choose just one item.
Dakota: I kept everything. But, if I had to have picked one thing, it would have been the corset.
Kristen: I would have picked the leather jacket, but I kept all of it, too.
Note also that a wealth of new clips from the film were made available recently, and they are all grouped together both here and here. One clip worth particular note is this one of Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning singing "Cherry Bomb."
Pretty stinkin' good, huh? Go girls!
On a final note, Roger Ebert's review of The Yellow Handkerchief came out today, and suffice it to say that he is a believer of the Stew. Check it out here.
