In celebration of the 2009 Chuseok holiday, SBS held their "Idol Big Show" featuring talented Kpop artists like 4Minute, After School, Kara and SNSD. For the big finale, 2NE1 came back onstage for a performance of their take on a Big Bang original from a few years ago, “Last Farewell”. Again sporting their distinctive fashion statement wardrobe of punk street wear the girls danced and gave the song their own unique 2NE1 twist on their brother group’s single (both groups are under YG Entertainment). In return the boys of Big Bang came out and rocked “Last Farewell” in true Big Bang fashion that got the crowd up and screaming for more. The young gentlemen reprised their hit song in clean outfits departing from the recent fashion statement pieces from past performances which included lots of hot pink accents.
G-Dragon left behind his skirts and half-jackets for a slick white button-down and skinny black tie, Seungri’s suit is reminiscent of “Strong Baby” and Taeyang oozes New York hip hop style reminiscent of Jay-Z. T.O.P. was rocking his hair sans gel and it was nice to hear him rapping again on a Korean stage. Daeseung was notably absent as he is still recovering from a serious car accident from a few weeks ago. They looked slick and performed smoothly with Seungri taking over Daeseung’s parts.
To wrap it up, they performed a throwback hit off one of their earlier albums, “How Gee” with T.O.P. and G-Dragon spitting rhymes like the pros they are. Taeyang channeled his inner Usher for his dance moves and his New York style captivated the fans. His performance definitely helped hype his upcoming solo album debut that is rumored to feature street hip-hop and R&B style. Towards the end of the performance 2NE1 returned to the stage and danced it out with their brother group.
