It’s not always easy to find knitting patterns for summer projects in Texas.
But sometimes a pattern comes along that’s perfect for a summer project. Even in Texas. It helps that the pattern was created by a local designer, who understands what Texas heat truly is.
Alyssa Barton, who owns and operates Knitting Fairy, designed this tank top with versatility in mind. Not only is it perfect for summer wear, it’s also good to wear beneath a jacket year round.
The Ladies’ Swinging Summer Shell is was designed with Brooks Farm Yarn’s Mas Acero in mind. Mas Acero is a worsted weight wool, silk and viscose blend. The basic stitches used in the design create a wonderfully elegant effect along with a simple crochet edge.
The pattern comes in seven different sizes: 32, 36, 40, 44, 48 and 52. It is available through the Knitting Fairy for $6 (or $5.25 if you chose to have the pattern e-mailed instead).
The pattern is simple, but if you find yourself needing help, Barton offers knitting help. Her “Drop in Knitting” class is from 7 pm to 9 pm every Thursday for $10 per person. What better way to get help on a pattern than by the person who designed it?
Barton’s studio is located in Grand Prairie, just off of Highway 360.

This is a pretty tank top. I'll get one for my wife I think.
Thanks for the great article, Alice. I hope to see you at the studio soon. Maybe sporting that new tank?
I'll be knitting it for my mom first I think, but yes, I need to get on a better schedule so I can come visit you. ^_^
Alissa has done it again with this great pattern. Here's another one I MUST have.
