You've seen the commercial ads promoting Gardasil for the past few years. But what you may not have seen is this - as of January, 2010, there were more than 17,000 reports of adverse reactions regarding the vaccine Gardasil. Among them are 59 deaths, 18 of which were among girls under the age of 17.
Rhonda Ranata (NZHerald, Jan 2010) believes Gardasil caused her eighteen-year-old daughters death. About a month after the first Gardasil dose, Jasmine progressively developed pains in various parts of her body, had an episode of her heart racing, weak arms, tingling in her hands and legs, and became tired and irritable.Six months after she received the last of the three injections of the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil, Jasmine died in her sleep.
Merck, the maker of Gardasil, would like you to know that six million women contract HPV annually -- but they do not tell you most of those cases are harmless. And they do not tell you that their vaccine is more dangerous than the virus itself.
National Cancer Institute says, "It is important to note, however, that the great majority of high-risk HPV infections go away on their own and do not cause cancer."
The National Vaccine Information Center on Gardasil and HPV provides information on numerous reactions, some of these reports:
-
Christina Tarsell, a 21-year-old college student majoring in studio arts at Bard College, who died suddenly and without explanation shortly after receiving the third Gardasil shot in June 2008.
-
Gabrielle, a 15-year-old former gymnast and cheerleader who can no longer attend school and is suffering from severe headaches, heart problems and seizures since getting the vaccine. She has been diagnosed with Inflammation of the Central Nervous System as a result of a Gardasil vaccine reaction, and her condition continues to deteriorate.
- Ashley, a 16-year-old who became chronically ill after receiving Gardasil, and now suffers regular life-threatening episodes of seizure-like activity, difficulty breathing, back spasms, paralysis, dehydration, memory loss and tremors.
What does the CDC say about Gardasil?
The vaccine has been licensed by the FDA and approved by CDC as safe and effective. Reporting that it was studied in thousands of females (ages 9 through 26 years) around the world and its safety continues to be monitored by CDC and the FDA. The CDC says that their studies have found no serious side effects, discounting the reported severe reactions as coincidental.
An article regarding a new study by Merck (Aug. 2009) says it reinforces the safety profile of Gardasil (Source Merck).
Is the manufacturer of Gardasil the only one conducting the safety studies? Did science prove that boosting your immune system could be the best way to fight hpv?
