UK's Patterson ascending to legendary status

UK's Patterson looks to improve in '09-'10 season

Ever since day one, Patrick Patterson has had the spotlight pointed right on him.

He decided to delay his decision until the spring signing period where it came down to three schools, Duke, Florida, and Kentucky. The press conference to announce his decision was filled with UK faithful, leaving ecstatic with the end result.

Patterson wound up picking UK, a decision that has helped build his impressive status as a UK player.

With the decision to return for his junior season, he will now be able to build upon that already impressive status and make it legendary.

With new head coach John Calipari by his side, Patterson will look to improve upon things he didn’t do well last season.

What he didn’t do well? Are you kidding me?

Jodie Meeks held the spotlight with fantastic performances throughout the ’08-’09 seasons, but Patterson did what no other player could do; hold down the paint.

Holding down the paint is one of Patrick’s fortes, a necessity for a team that ranked in the top 5 in blocks for the entire season. Calipari will do everything to teach P-Pat that there is so much more to learn.

An almost lock lottery pick for this year’s NBA draft, Patterson decided to stay and live out college life. That’s his decision and we should applaud him for making a choice as such. Far too often, college teenagers the quick road to the NBA and don’t experience college for what it is. Patterson isn’t one of those people.

Looking to graduate in three years, he will leave UK with a college degree but also legendary status, as one of UK’s best players. He has an array of tools to become a dominate college player this upcoming season and will look to be drafted in next year’s NBA draft.

The one thing I admire most about Patrick is that he knows what he has in front of him. A new, outstanding coach and amazing recruiting class will help immensely in his desire to win an NCAA Championship. This upcoming season will be Patrick’s best opportunity to fulfill his dream by winning a title and giving what UK fans so badly desire, a national championship.
