Did Kate spank Leah?
Already lighting up the message boards are new photos that appear to show Kate Gosselin spanking her daughter Leah. Featured on the cover of the next issue of In Touch Weekly, one paparazzi photo looks like Kate takes a swat at Leah's bottom, and another shows Leah shielding her rear end with her hands and screaming while Kate grabs her arm.
What the pictures don't show is Kate actually striking Leah, or if she did how hard, or what led up to the provocation. Of course many think it's never right to spank a child no matter what they've done -- what do you think?
According to one report, a witness told In Touch:
The girl was screaming and crying. Kate just pushed her away and walked off with her coffee. Her older sisters were trying to make Leah feel better.
A previous story showed police at the Gosselins home, and at the time it was said Kate had called because photographers were too close to her property. Now rumors are it was actually paparazzi that called the cops to report the spanking -- a story bolstered by the fact that Kate is wearing the same dress in both the "spanking" pics and the ones of her talking to a police officer.
The controversial pictures were revealed in a promo for the gossip show The Insider, and the voiceover suggests that Jon will be able to use these against Kate if/when the Gosselins divorce. You can watch the promo below to see the images for yourself:

I've never seen an episode of this show where I don't cringe at just how abusive Kate is to her children. She threatens them, she orders them around, she yells constantly, she rages about being angry, tired, exhausted... not once is this woman content,calm or loving.

Come to think of it, there are hardly ever sweet moments with the children. How often do you see Kate making an effort to hug and kiss all of her children. She seemed more consumed with spending money on herself and photo ops. Obviously, she doens't have time for all her kids. I've heard they have like, 4 nannies. she doesn't go anywhere without them.
So what kate disiplined her child? Like your mom has never spanked you? Or youv'e never spanked ur own kids. I know she always yelled at Jon to do things, but when it came to the kids, she does boss them around and not so much mothering. I remember in past episodes, all the kids would be outside and she would be sitting in a chair in the garage watching, yelling commands for Jon to watch that one or this one, but never, ever getting up and playing with them. You never see her playing, just taking them places and still freaking out about the mess and then stop the fun for them because she couldn't handle it. That's not right.

Kate knew that the PAPS were watching her. I don't think Kate feels that she is doing anything wrong. The show's ratings took a dive this week, I bet she did this to keep herself on the covers of all the magazines. LOL!!!
I don't think a little spanking is THAT big of a deal! Her arm is only bent at the elbow....it's not as though she raised her hand from up over her head & beat the child....it appears to be a swat on the fanny.

I agree with Brian she is not a clam or loving person, I watched the show all the time now it's getting boring so I don't watch the show anymore. But, yeah the way Kate is I would so cheat on her too. As far as Spanking her little one shooooooot I was raised by the belt spanking is not nothing to me when i was a kid. Where was all these child laws when I was growing up????? I think the people who made up these laws do't have children. Children do need discipline.... Spanking children while they are WORKING is unacceptable. Spanking debate aside, these children are in a work environment. They should be treated as such - given breaks, play time, etc. This is not NORMAL outside play folks, they are FILMING. Can you imagine a regular child actor being hit/spanked on set? I do believe that the child would very quickly be relieved of their acting duties, as their behaviour (which resulted in a spanking) was showing that they are NOT INTERESTED IN ACTING.
my own opinion, Mady is the one that needs a good spanking. She picks on the littler ones. I watched the train ride episode yesterday and she kept screwing with Hannah's hair (which Hannah hates) and as she is being told to leave her sister alone, she purposely (and filmed by the cameraman) disobeys and keeps her hand in her hair, as if "what? I'm not doing anything." She interupts, makes faces at people and is a royal brat. There. whew.
my mother-in-law tells a story about how when she was raising four rowdy kids, when the got too wild in the backseat, she would remove her flip-flop and swing at the back indiscriminately. She said if they didn't deserve it for that, they deserved it for something they'd gotten away with. lol. They all survived and love and respect her tremendously. And they are still wild, so their spirits were not harmed in anyway.
Kate seems stressed and lost. She's controlling, angry, mean and takes it out on those weaker and smaller than she is.
Yes, I'm for discipline but I think there are ways withought the teethe-gritting grabbing of the protected arm and swatting. What makes it worse is when a sibling looks on. They go through life feeling like they did not protect their sibling. Her controlling angry ways is creating other problems and needs to be dealt with.
Yes, dealing with that many children has got to be tough, especially when they misbehave, but sometimes we have to look through the eyes of a child and perhaps try self-control with something else. A mother is to protect not add fear to her childs life.

Growning up I got the wooden paddle, back of my mothers hand across the head, and I am just fine. I turned out to be a "good" person. Look at these MONSTER kids these days that have more rights then the parents. all these people complaining will also be the first to complain or sue someone when the non disciplined child hurts or kills someone. What the heck? I'm 16 and every once in a while i got a hit on the butt for not listening, and you know what? It worked pretty dang well, and nor am I "scared for life" from it. I'm a victim of spanking having a lifelong fetish from childood having been ritualy semi stripped and genitally exposed by my mother. I eventually sought pro psych help. Found buried post tramatic stress disorder flashbacks. Learned I'd sexualized the trauma of being so helpless in fear and exposed with shame. NOT a majoriy have this fate but I now have conscious rage and hate for my deceased mother. Got ahead and called a mild unpleasant experience and risk giving your child a robbed sexuality. I've the human behavior science and my own experience demonstrating you take a calculated risk in your childs future happiness if you spank.
I am a Christian and I agree with the Bible when it talks about spanking. I think everyone should butt out of Jon and Kate's life!!! They have enough going on without someone accusing them of child abuse! Get over it people, you either agree or disagree, either way it goes, it really doesn't change anything!
I have twins, just a small part of Kate's kids, and I always try to not spank them, but at their 4 year old, they do so much to drive me nuts, and sometimes I give up. But I love my kids, I would give my life for them, and discipline is sort a kind of love.

Im pretty much shocked about this whole spanking thing. Look people you can go back and forth all you want about whether or not spanking is right or wrong. I think as a parent if you choose to spank good for you! If you choose not to then good for you too. Its an individuals right to decide how they want to parent. I think it should be a parent's right to choose how to discipline there child. I don't thinking spanking lightly hurts any child but I do believe it can and has gone to far in the past. I, like to person above, use to watch the show regularly but have since gotten tired of all the media and really how the show is now. I think Jon and Kate need to find out what they both really want in their personal lives and remember they brought eight children into this world together and how ALL OF THIS will effect them, that is the teacher and mother talking in me. The show, money and publicity isn't worth the hurt you are doing to your children. GROW UP!!!!!
This is a bunch of crap. They dont even know the whole story. Plus when I was little I would get spanked and I'm not in a rehab center or scarred for life. They just took this story way too far like they always do. So they just need to give this family a break and let them figure out what is going on and what they are going to do it about.

It was an open palm smack to the clothed bottom. I was beaten with a belt and wire hangers and shoes, and while I think that was abusive, I never developed any sexual fetishes, nor do I hate my mother. There is a difference between deviant sexual abuse and every day run of the mill discipline.

Seriously, people are going a little too crazy over this spanking thing. Yes, I think Kate needs an attitude change but if her children disobey, she has the right as a parent to spank them. And trust me, those pictures are nothing compared to what my brothers look like when they get spanked. (Heck, that's nothing compared to what I went through when I was spanked as a kid.)

Are you all forgetting when the show started and the sextuplets were playing in the garage and Joel bit Collin, the BITCH herself said she don’t believe in spanking that she makes them sit down when they are misbehaving! There was also a carpet at the end of the stairs in the old house that the kids had to sit on when they were misbehaving! This is just a sign of her LOSING it, she needs them kids taken away so she can’t keep making money OFF them and needs to get her ass out there and get a damn job and support her family that way! There are just as many people who do believe in spanking as there are who don't. In the end it's all at the discretion of the parent. Some cross the line and some don't. The kind of spanking Kate did is far far from child abuse. It is the first kind of allowable spanking there is. Everyone needs to lighten up and give them a little more personal space. It's Jon and Kate's plus 8's lives, not ours! People need to weigh their opinions before judging and maybe your scale will tilt on the oposition's side. Empathy is always a good policy. In other words put yourself in their shoes!
