Kate Gosselin is a reality TV star, best know for having two sets of multiples -- twins who were born in 2000 and sextuplets who were born in 2004 -- and for sporting a highly unusual haircut. Katie Irene Gosselin was born on March 28, 1975. She’s the second to youngest of 5 children. Born to parents Kenton and Charlene Kreider, Kate’s father is a Pastor and owns a campground in the Philadelphia area while Charlene, a stay at home mom, started having children in her late teen years. There is much speculation that Kate is estranged from her parents, and the reasons for this remain mysterious. Kate has claimed on the show, Jon and Kate Plus 8, that they do remain in the children’s lives off camera.
Kate graduated from Reading Hospital and Medical Center with a Registered Nursing certificate. Kate met Jon Gosselin at a party in 1997. Kate has stated on the show that there was an immediate attraction and that Jon did have a girlfriend at the time, but she was determined to get him regardless. The couple married in 1997.
Kate has been forthright about her life-long dream to become a mother and admits that she was impatient when trying to conceive. Her doctor wanted her to wait a year before introducing fertility but she insisted between 6 – 9 months of trying to take a more aggressive approach due to her PCOS. The Gosselins used IUI to conceive, which increasing the conceiving multiples by up to 30%.
Kate Gosselin was only the second mother in the state of Pennsylvania to have sextuplets. After being featured on a Discovery Health special about child-birth, the couple was offered several specials resulting from the popularity of the single documentary. Each show proved to be more and more popular which ultimately landed them with a reality series contract.
Recent tabloid coverage has sparked rumor of Jon and Kate divorcing, sparked after Jon was photographed with a much younger woman and was accused of having an affair.
Jon and Kate Plus 8 is now in it’s 5th year of production. Kate has also contributed to two books, Multiple Bles8ings and Eight Little Faces. Kate also travels the country for paid speaking engagements.

Kate is an amazing women with a big heart. Im not saying that she is perfect, everyone goes through rough patches in life. it is probably very stressful raising 8 kids and that means she cant always be really nice and everything to jon. Her kids are amazing. i am probably their biggest fan and i really miss the show and i wish that the show would come back on again. i want to send the kids birthday presents but i dont know their address. for some reason i always cry about it i know that thats really stupid of me but i feel as if i knew the kids really well and i cry alot and i mean alot about it.God bless the gosselins and may they have wonderful lives. we love you Cara, Mady, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin and Joel may god guide you all in the right direction of life.
