From his home in Delaware, Joe bided his time last Saturday phoning members of the House, urging them to “pass health care reform.” Apparently his calls did some good, considering the health care bill miraculously made it through the House.
At the the National Association of Insurance Commissioners conference in September, Biden had told insurers: “If we do nothing, in 10 years, one in every $5 Americans earn will be spent on healthcare. Spending by the federal government on Medicaid and Medicare alone will be 15 percent of GDP [gross domestic product] by 2040."
