Best Craigslist ad of the week: looking for actor to make my children cry
This week the Best Craigslist ad of the week is just too funny - sad but funny...!
My deceased aunt gave my two kids a Cocker Spaniel a few months back. The dog has been a terror and become overwhelming for me. I am a single father raising two young children. I cannot face telling the kids that the dog must go.
You play the villain
I have found a good home for the dog, and just need someone to transport the dog, and play the villain.
Premise: You will be the dog walker hired by daddy (me) to walk Skittles. I will introduce you to the kids, and you will tell them you are going to help Skittles get her exercise when Daddy is too busy to walk her. At that point you will walk Skittles to your car and take her to her new family 20 minutes from my place. Then return holding just a leash. The story will be that Skittles broke free of the leash and took off. At this point prepare for crying, things being thrown at you, and possibly cursing. My kids are young and dramatic, their girls.
$500 in 2 hours!
Pay will be $500. The job will take roughly 2 hours at best.
This job is ideal for an actor looking to diversify their role base, or someone who genuinely likes to make children cry. Acting experience is a plus, but not necessary. Please inform me of any prior experience in this kind of situation.

Oh my gosh! I have to laugh but at the same time... wow. That dad has really gone to a lot of trouble planning this whole drama, hasn't he?
Sorry, I don't think this ad is funny. If the dad would invest the $500 in a dog trainer, the kids would have their dog and no reason to cry. Has the dog been tested for health problems? Was it abused? If the kids grow up into terrors (not surprising, with this parenting) will he give them away too?
Face the music - being a parent is not always about being the good guy, actually mostly, it's about being the honest person who sometimes has to tell the truth even if it's unpleasant. Grow up, be a Dad and be honest. They will wonder what happened, imagine the worst, getting hit by a car, etc. when in reality the dog will have a nice safe home with people who will care for it. The uncomfortable solution is to bring them all in on this - what's best for their dog is sometimes what's not best for them - or Dad's. That is a valuable life lesson that you have the opportunity to handle in the right way, or not. If you balk at this, imagine what havoc will play out when they are in their teens. Integrity now will pay you back in multitudes later. Will there be tears, yes..drama...yes....but lying is not the answer. Life is not simple and tears and drama will subside leaving reason and a step towards maturity and preparation for the more difficult things in life....just my thoughts.
Pshh.. I'd do it...
