President Barack Obama announced a long-term jobs program on September 6, which is known as the Labor Day holiday. The costs of the plan will be up to $50 billion for the rebuilding of roads, railways and runways. The President, in campaign style speech speech spirit, leveled a verbal assault on Republicans for causing Americans' hard economic times.

Critics Slam the Presidents Job Creation Proposal Immediately

GOP leaders instantly assailed Obama's proposal, when on CNN's Rick List, Doug Heye Communications Director for the RNC stated, "The healthcare bill that Congress and the Democratic passed are causing businesses not to hire." In addition, Mr. Heye called the speech, "Unfortunate".

Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada told the Huffington Post, "If we are going to get anything done, Republican cooperation, which has been all but non-existent recently, will be necessary." In addition, Wolf Blizter of CNN reported that his conversation with capital hill resources, stated that the changes of President Obama proposal being passed before the mid-term elections was, "Virutally none".

Administration officials acknowledge that even if the program was to win quick congressional approval, jobs from the package would not been seen until 2011. This was the President first major speech on the need to increase job creation in the United States since July 9, 2010, prior to the increase of the nations' unemployment rate from 9.5 percent to its' current 9.6 percent figure. The rate of underemployment America, was measured by Gallup to be at 18.6 percent in August 2010.

Michigan unemployment rate, continue to hold steady in the double digits, at 13.1 percent.

President Obama Uses Words to Fight Back GOP Lead Attacks

During the Labor Day speech in Milwaukee, the president said Republicans are expecting between now and Election Day November 2, Americans will forget the Republican and Bush Administration economic policies that started this current recession.

"These are the folks whose policies helped devastate our middle class and drive our economy into a ditch. And now they're asking you for the keys back," Obama said during his speech. "They think it's better to score political points before an election than actually solve problems."

Obama when on to add, "Even as we speak, these guys are saying no to cutting more taxes for small business owners. I mean, come on! Remember when our campaign slogan was "Yes We Can?" These guys are running on "No, We Can't," and proud of it. Really inspiring, huh?"

"If I said fish live in the sea, they'd say no," he stated. President Obama also made a pledge to "keep fighting, every single day, every single hour, every single minute to turn this economy around." In addition the President stated that interest groups he has battled "talk about me like a dog," in a deeply emotional tone.

GOP Leadership State Bluntly to Not Count on Their Help to Pass the Job Creation Proposals

Republicans made clear that Obama should not expect any help from them, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said the plan "should be met with justifiable skepticism." He said it would raise taxes while Americans are "still looking for the 'shovel-ready' jobs they were promised more than a year ago" in the $814 billion economic stimulus measure.

The House Republican leader, John Boehner of Ohio, added "We don't need more government 'stimulus' spending. We need to end Washington Democrats' out-of-control spending spree, stop their tax hikes, and create jobs by eliminating the job-killing uncertainty that is hampering our small businesses."

More Job Creation Proposal Speeches by President Obama Planned for This Week

The infrastructure spending is part of a package of economic proposals to be announced this week by Obama. Other speeches scheduled for this week include a $100 Billion Dollar Small Business Tax Credit proposal outline in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, September 8. Recent poll results is sparking President Obama efforts to show a jittery public, that he is focused on pumping life into the economic recovery and shrinking an unemployment rate long stuck near 10 percent.
