Jersey Shore Season 2 episode 5 "The Letter" broke yet another series ratings record on Thursday, eclipsing the total number of viewers who tuned in for Jersey Shore Season 1. A whopping 5.8 million viewers watched as Sammi discovered the anonymous letter ratting out Ronnie for his creepin', cheatin' ways.
If the headline is starting to sound old, it should. Jersey Shore's audience has grown for three consecutive weeks, setting a new series high each week. The MTV reality show is the summer's #1 series with viewers ages 12-34 across all TV. On top of that, Jersey Shore holds the top five cable telecasts of the year in the same age group.
Jersey Shore Season 2 has not only seen an increase in viewers week-to-week, but the show's ratings are obliterating the first season of Jersey Shore. The first five episodes of Jersey Shore Season 1 were watched by a total of 8.64 million viewers, with the entire 9-week season totalling 23.9 million viewers. Towards the end of the first season viewership skyrocketed as Snooki and The Situation started their rise to fame and phenomenon-status. In comparison, in just the first five episode of Jersey Shore Season 2 a total of 27.1 million people have tuned, eclipsing the original season's viewership by a landslide.
