cold case det.rush
The show opens up with a man looking into a mirror grooming himself. An attractive woman walks into the office smoking a cigarette. She sits down and they start a conversation about the job he is doing for her. He is a private detective. The private dick Harry tells the woman her husband is rich and is banging his secretary. Harry has photos of the husband in compromising positions with the secretary. The woman client ask Harry “How did you find him”? Harry just looks at her as if to say “it’s a trade secret". The woman client is annoyed with Harry. She then stands up and socks Harry in the jaw then left without paying the bill.

Shortly thereafter Harry’s secretary a good looking dirty blonde haired woman enters the room and see’s Harry, nursing a bruise on his jaw. The secretary sympathizes with Harry for a moment then she leaves as Harry stares into space.

Next a construction site or warehouse type building is shown panning from column to column then finally stopping at one with a motionless body laying there. A case is logged.

Detective Rush arrives at the scene first. She seems to be studying a bone configuration spread out on a table. Once the body was identified after DNA evidence it was learned the victim was a former cop and had a registered gun which he was shot with. The gun was given to the secretary originally for protection. It seems Harold “Harry” Denton took the wrong case. Theme music plays as a collage of characters are shown to commercial: Quilted Northern tissues, Mucinex, etc.

After the break we are in precinct. Detective Rush and Stillman discuss case. It is learned that Harry started the private “D” service after leaving the force.

While Det. Rush and Det. Valens were discussing the case an old man is hanging out in the hallway outside of the precinct office area. Det. Valens excuses himself and go over to the man. He ask “What are you doing here Dad” you should have called. His father wants to talk but Det. Valens cannot talk at the time. They set things for later.

Next, Det. Nick Vera and Det. Kat Miller interview the ex-wife of the victim Harry was hired to investigate. Her name is Catherine Hargrove. They have a discussion about Harry and the case he was working on. Much was not accomplish there.

Next stop Ms. Hargrove’s lawyer at the time of the case. Det. Rush and Valens do the interview. Rush hands the lawyer a picture of Harry. He smiles then gives a sarcastic comment about Harry keeping bad company. He remembers not feeling comfortable discussing the case in front of Harry’s secretary. He also discloses that the missing daughter of the cheating husband died in a car accident May 6th 1974. Commercial break: Census 2010, Target and Lipitor.

Back in time Harry is shown arriving at a house party. People are partying in the front of the house and in the house partying. Harry flashes the missing girl’s picture to a couple of people then to a crazed druggy who points to where the girl might be inside. Harry’s bodyguard follows close by. Harry spots the girl apprehends her and taking her out of the party when suddenly the cheating husband appears then takes a swing at Harry, hitting him in the face. Frenchy Harry’s bodyguard grabs the confronting husband. Harry starts questioning. Harry makes a deal to sell back the incriminating pictures he has of him for $500.00 bucks since his wife did not pay the bill. It was agreed.

After which Harry put the girl in the trunk of his car against her will and protest. That was May the 4th 1976. We learned there was a witness who saw Harry put the girl in the car.

Harry decided to shake down Ms. Hargrove for more money so he visited her in her garden. They discuss whether Harry found her daughter or not. Harry declared no not really. Ms. Hargrove referred him to her lawyer for more money. Harry noticed a certain flower and asked what it was. Ms. Hargrove replied a Primrose flower. When she turned her back Harry clipped a pedal from the plant. Ms. Hargrove noticed the missing pedal from the flower but said nothing.

Meanwhile Ms. Hargrove, called Harry’s service and hired his secretary to check on Harry because she did not trust him and felt he was up to something.

The secretary follows Harry to a safe house out in the woods and Harry bust her spying on him. She ask what is going on Harry? He replies I am trying to do the right thing here. Suddenly the girl escapes thru a window when Frenchy turned his back. The girl got in the available and drove away.

French is in pursuit then stops to pick up Harry and the secretary. They both drive recklessly thru the dark woods then the girl somehow crashes into a tree or something and the car is engulfed in flames. It is feared the girl is dead. Harry told the secretary to keep her mouth shut and do not tell anyone of this incident. She kept Harry’s request secret.

Det. Rush visits someone in jail. Det. Valens meets with his father at a restaurant and they work out whatever was going on between them. Det. Vera, visits a local bar to see Frenchy. Frenchy does not want to talk with Det. Vera. They have a little tiff and Det. Vera prevails. That seems to make the conversation easier to have between them.

Frenchy, discloses Harry was running a scam on Ms. Hargrove. He got I.D. passport for the girl giving her a new life because she was still alive and well somewhere else. Her new name was Clara Dunaway. She was in Pineburg, New Jersey. Det. Rush and Valens arrive at the home of Clara Dunaway to see her.

When they arrive they address her by her real name. Clara responds “I haven’t heard that name in 35 years. “How did you find me? She discloses she did not or trust her step-mother. She believed her step-mother killed her father. The detectives disclosed her father was poisoned which caused a heart attack. She used the primrose flowers to do it. Harry figured it out and was about to tell the police and that is why Harry hid and protected her. He wanted to save her from her step-mother. The then young lady was beholding to Harry for that action.

Harry had proof of the cheating husband’s murder. Also it was learned by the police that Ms. Hargrove had another husband who died mysteriously as well. She also had a prior arrest record. Det. Rush believed Ms. Hargrove shot her husband. Ms. Hargrove was brought into the precinct for questioning. She admitted nothing and said they had no proof of any wrong doing on her part.

Another visit to Ms. Hargrove’s attorney and he was also brought in questioning. It was then learned that it was him who was in love with Ms. Hargrove and shot Harry Denton. Harry said he knew Ms. Hargrove killed her husband. The lawyer offered Harry $50,000.00 to forget about everything and Harry said no then tore up the check and attempted to walk away. The lawyer had already pulled a gun on him but did not shoot. Harry turned his back and the lawyer after one last plea to Harry, shot him in the back. The confession was made in detail.   The lawyer is arrested for killing Harry Denton.

Ms. Hargrove is released and charged with no crime for lack of evidence. Ms. Hargrove get’s on the elevator. Det. Rush is watching her and just before the door closes Hargrove winks at Det. Rush and Stillman. The end.

This was a great episode with twist and turns and an unlikely resolve.
