Jennifer Aniston will serve as executive producer and her partner, Kristin Hahn, will produce Holler, the true story of a bi-racial student in Mississippi who is barred from taking a white date to the high school prom.
Aniston and Hahn acquired the screenplay for Holler through their production company Echo Films which they formed in April 2008. They worked together before at the production company, Plan B, formerly owned by Aniston and her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.
In an interview with Variety last year, Hahn explained: "We particularly like working from books and real-life stories about distinct characters that embody something relatable and relevant about human nature's double-sided coin of vulnerability and mettle".
Aniston added: "We're drawn to stories about people finding their voice and finding their way because they help us as listeners and viewers do what we feel we're all trying to do, which is making sense of our lives through the stories of others. That's why we chose the name Echo, to echo back an idea, a challenge, something that resonates through all of us."
Echo Films has many projects currently in development including Chemistry, a dramatic comedy focusing on the idea that romantic love and obsessive compulsive disorder share similar brain chemistry, and Love: Todd, a drama about an aging tennis pro-turned-coach who gets schooled on the court by a teen tennis phenomenon.
Aniston is currently filming the action-comedy, The Bounty, in New York. There are rumors swirling that Aniston is dating her co-star, Gerard Butler.
