As the official "Holiday Week" begins, there's still a fair amount of those who are finishing up their Christmas Shopping, mailing out those cards, or pulling out that recipe book for the big dinner. The clock is ticking, and while all the last-minute holiday tasks have adapted a frantic pace, we here at The Jazz Half want to encourage you to take a deep breath, step back, and set an hour or two aside to check out one of the following shows going on in the city this week:
On Monday, Dec. 19th, the Qtet is warming things up inside the Northside Tavern, 4163 Hamilton Ave. Admission is FREE, and the music starts at 10:00pm.
The Cactus Pear in Blue Ash is the place to be for Brazilian Jazz on Tuesday night, as Phil DeGreg leads in with Rusty Burge, Kim Pensyl, Aaron Jacobs, and John Taylor, delivering sizzling Brazilian tempos as well as American jazz standards. The show starts at 7:00pm and the Cactus Pear is located at 9500 Kenwood Rd., Blue Ash.
Looking for a holiday blowout of jazz music with a variety of artists? Look no further than the MOTR Pub downtown this Wednesday the 21st, hosted by the Chris Comer Trio, with Chris on piano, Bart Foster on Drums, and Matt Wiles on Bass. Some of the guest artists include: Jason Arbenz, Rob Ervin, Dan Barger, and more. the fun starts at 9:00pm. The MOTR Pub is located at 1345 Main Street; downtown.
At 8:00pm on Thursday the 22th, Vocalist Heather Ramsey, along with Pianist/Composer Monika Herzig celebrate the release of their Christmas CD at the Blue Wisp, 318 East 8th Street, downtown. Admission is just $12.
Drop into Dee Felice, in the heart of the historic Main Strasse, on Friday the 23rd, for some award-winning cajun food and the sounds of the New Sleepcat Band. The music starts at 7:00pm, and Dee Felice is located at 529 Main Street, in Covington.
