Columbus-based Violinist Christian Howes has a genuine, organic outlook on the art of music. Throughout his life, he’s been introduced to an eclectic group of music styles, from classical, to blues and soul, to rock, gospel and jazz. Christian would be the first to tell you that this all stems from his life experiences. The result is his own elaborately composed life soundtrack.
The story of Christian Howes is one of adversity, discovery, and commitment. These elements contribute to the character strengths of Christian, and they definitely shine through in his latest CD, “Heartfelt”. Never being one to settle on the notion that ‘the common practice is the only practice’, Christian also applies these elements as hallmarks for his founded Creative Strings Workshop.
Christian Howes has made his footprint in the world of jazz. His playing style is one of emotion and controlled intensity, the very attributes of a jazz musician. His sound is crisp and pronounced. On February 27th, Christian Howes brings his group to The Blue Wisp, in Cincinnati, for one night. His group consists of Hamilton Hardin on Bass, Cedric Easton on Drums, Kenny Banks on Piano, and Christian on Violin.
Christian sat down with The Jazz Half to chat about his background and life's journey through music. Click here to listen to the exclusive interview.
