Downtown Bakersfield's monthly First Friday celebration continues this Friday as local art galleries, restaurants, and other merchants are holding special events, art shows, etc.  At least two of the venues downtown will be featuring live music from local jazz musicans for your enjoyment.

From 5 PM - 9 PM, Metro Galleries will be presenting "CaliforniaContemporary,"  works by Mary-Austin Klein, John Brosio, Tina Bluefield, Lily Stockman, Art Sherwyn and Keith Wicks. Sponsored by the Bakersfield Heart Hospital & Barbara Reid. Admission is free and there will be a No Host wine bar and hors d'ouerves. All ages welcome.

Music entertainment will be provided by local jazz vocalist Kama Ruby and pianist Ezekiel Victor.

If you need to step outside for a breath of fresh air, just hang a right and you'll find popular local guitarist Mike Montano performing streetside next to Metro Galleries in front of Ellie Jays from 5:30 - 8 PM. Mike will be playing jazz, blues, and Latin tunes outdoors for your enjoyment.

Metro Galleries is located at 1604 19th St.,  Ellie Jays at 1608 19th St., both in downtown Bakersfield, near the intersection of 19th and Eye Streets.
