Jason Mraz takes over LA radio station

On Sunday night, June 7, Jason Mraz was the guest DJ for 100.3 The Sound in Los Angeles. Mraz played his favorite songs for an hour as part of the radio station's guest DJ series.

He kicked off the hour of "Mraz radio" with the song "New Soul" by Yael Naim and ended with the song "If You Want Me" from the Once movie soundtrack. In-between, he played 11 more tracks including songs from San Diego folk artist, Gregory Page, British sensation Adele and the super-duo of Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. He even threw in one of his own songs: a previous in-studio performance of "You and I" off Mraz's first album, "Waiting for My Rocket To Come."

Mraz also payed homage to two artists he has worked with including Lisa Hannigan who has been the opening act for Jason on several concert dates, and Brett Dennen who, with Jason Mraz, co-wrote the song "Long Road to Forgiveness" from the Songs for Survival album benefitting the organization Survival International, a movement for indigenous tribal people.

Although Jason Mraz didn't talk very much throughout the hour, he offered his own recommendation that everyone should own the album by jazz singer Michael Franks called "The Art of Tea" released in 1976.

The Sound, whose motto is "All About the Music" offered the entire hour commercial free. The Sound is a relatively new station to Los Angeles and prides itself on focusing on the music instead of the commercial hype that has plagued most radio stations.
