In keeping with the theme of the evening of recognizing music's influential role on television, Mraz and Caillat performed two songs representing famous variety shows of television's past: "It's Not Unusual", a song made popular by Tom Jones, who hosted his own variety show from 1969-71 and "I Got You Babe", the hit song by Sonny and Cher, who hosted "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" in the early 1970s. Jason and Colbie, who are nominated this year for "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals" for "Lucky", kicked off the show with their energized duet, paving the way for a night of great performances.

The "Cue the Music" event was hosted by Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson, who introduced video segments pertaining to different aspects of music's influence on television. Latin GRAMMY winner Jorge Moreno sang "Babalu" made famous by "I Love Lucy" star Desi Arnaz; GRAMMY-winning soul legend, Solomon Burke performed the theme from "The Sopranos" TV series and GRAMMY-nominted R&B vocalist Melanie Fiona sang "Rainbow Connection" from "The Muppet Show".

To illustrate the power of music television led by MTV, Pat Monahan, lead singer of the GRAMMY Award-winning band Train sang "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. Grammy-nominated band, The Fray, closed out the show with their hits "You Found Me" and "How to Save a Life'", the song which propelled the band into the limelight after it was featured on the ABC hit show, "Grey's Anatomy" in 2006.

"Cue the Music" is part of a series of events held this week as a lead-up to the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards airing this Sunday on CBS. The GRAMMY Foundation partnered with the Paley Center for Media to include historical television footage during the event.
