While the Beatles had the number one selling album of the decade, their greatest hits album aptly titled "1", with almost 11.5 million copies sold, Eminem, who had two of the top 10 albums, The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, sold over 32.2 million albums from 2000 to 2009. This makes Eminem the top-selling artist of the decade.

Yesterday, Nielsen SoundScan released the best-selling lists for artists, albums and songs of the past 10 years. The list includes the top-selling digital songs of the decade. The top three songs are: Flo Rida feat. T-Pain, “Low” with 5,214,000 units sold, Lady Gaga feat. Colby O’Donis, “Just Dance,” with 4,690,000 units sold, and Jason Mraz, “I’m Yours,” with 4,619,000 units sold.

Jason Mraz's little "hippy song" has made him a household name, even being parodied recently on Saturday Night Live. "I'm Yours" was featured on Mraz's third album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things, released in 2008 and Mraz has been touring for almost two years promoting the song throughout the U.S. and around the world. He recently released a live CD/DVD from his 2009 Gratitude Cafe Tour called Jason Mraz's Beautiful Mess - Live on Earth.

The Beatles are right behinf M&M with 30 million records sold since 2000. Not bad for a group that broke up 29 years ago. They transcend time. I wonder if M &M or ANY other musical act or persona will sell that many records 29 years after they stopped making music. Doubt it.
