The Christmas spirit is in the air at the Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise’s aquarium and amusement park. The sea animals are sporting winter outfits, putting on seasonal performances, and swimming with Santa Claus as part of a special daily Christmas themed event that will last until December 25th.
Events include:
- A school of 50,000 sardines will be directed in a Christmas version of the “Super Sardine Illusion.” The large school of fish will make Christmas tree shapes and other colorful patterns three to four times a day.
- A Santa Claus diver will be playing with a beluga and a seal once a day as part of the “Dolphin Fantasy” show. Santa will give the animals presents of food and toys.
- Guests can have their pictures taken with penguins and sea lions dressed up in winter apparel during multiple periods throughout the day.
- The marine mammals show will hold a special Christmas version of its performance multiple times daily. Some of the animals will play Christmas tunes on musical instruments and others will wear Santa hats.
- Among other smaller events, the park will also be having a special Christmas fireworks show on the evenings of Dec. 23rd and 24th.
Ticket prices vary depending on the desired type of entrance pass. Discount vouchers for international guests can be found online. The nearest train station to the entire park is Hakkeijima on the Seaside line, about 40 minutes away from Yokohama Station.
