Twenty-five year old, brown-haired, brown-eyed, stunningly beautiful Emiri Miyasaka is the Japanese representative for the 2009 Miss Universe contest being held on August 23rd in the Bahamas.
Emiri Miyasaka profile
According to her website Emiri Miyasaka was born on June 16th, 1984. She is 5’7” tall and weighs about 105 lbs. She enjoys traveling and is currently working exclusively as a model. Miyasaka says that she first became interested in the Miss Universe contest after Kurara Chibana took first runner-up in 2006.
Miyasaka hopes that competing in the pageant will allow her to better understand herself, as well as to help empower Japanese women. She says she is proud to be a woman and wants to polish her inner beauty.

Miss Universe Contest 2009 information
Emiri Miyasaka will be competing among 84 countries for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2009. This year is the 58th annual contest, and it is being held on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Since early August smaller events have been held in the country with the contestants. On August 16th the women competed in a preliminary swimsuit and evening gown event. The two hour final event will start at 9pm Eastern Time, August 23rd. It will be broadcasted on TV via NBC and Telemundo
Japan has won Miss Universe twice, in 1959 (Akiko Kojima) and in 2007 (Riyo Mori).
Emiri Miyasaka’s national costume controversy
There has been controversy over Emiri Miyasaka’s outfit for the special national costume presentation. The original design, based on a kimono, was short cut around the waist, showing off Miyasaka’s pink stockings and bikini bottom. Some felt the costume was too revealing, and the design has been slightly lengthened as a result.
