Japanese computer manufacture Kohjinsha has a wonderful new Christmas toy for computer lovers. They announced on November 27th that they will begin selling their unique dual screen 10.1 inch widescreen laptop on December 11th in country. The starting price is a reasonable ¥79,800 (~$900 USD).
A Kohjinsha representative told reporters that the laptop is aimed at two main purposes. The first is business, where the extra screen space will facilitate in the creation of documents. The second is for entertainment, where people, for instance, can have videos playing on one side while surfing the internet on the other.
The laptop, which Kohjinsha has labeled as the “DZ series,” features two thin 10.1 inch widescreen LCD screens with 1024x600 (WSVGA) display. The two screens slide out left and right, creating an extra long centered display
Other features, according to Kohjinsha, include: an AMD Athlon™ Neo MV-40 ( 1.6GHz ) processor, 1GB of memory (with a max of 4GB), a 160GB 2.5 inch SATA hard drive, an ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 internal graphics accelerator, a wireless LAN + Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
The laptop is approximately 1.84kg (~4lbs) and has a battery life of about 4.5 hours.
While not the world’s first “dual screen laptop”, it does appear to be the first 10.1 inch. It also beats out its larger predecessor, the Lenovo Thinkpad W700ds series, in price (and symmetry.)
Some websites already are offering it for export, although at a bit of a marked up price.

Hmm... yes, I like it.
Very nicely done. Wonder if the major notebook manufacturers can "adapt" such a design :)
*meh* It's a cute product, but the aspect ratio of the dual display (2048 x 600 px) seems completely impractical. For reading text, you generally want a display that is taller, rather than wide. Thus, even the Droid mobile phone (480 x 854 display) would be more readable.
what a joke. Like I'm going to use that at a cafe or on a train. Why wouldn't you just use a single screen laptop and use an external monitor when you need one (e.g at home or work).
