- Sparkling wines from many regions, prosecco dominates, franciacorta raises the bar and some unusual regions are putting out delicious bubbles.
- Indigenous whites: let’s start with the tremendously refreshing Vermentino di Sardegna (great with seafood and on its own).
- Then we move to the life-altering whites of Campania (whoever made that bumper sticker that “Life is too short to drink Italian whites” has never been here). Let’s start with Fiano di Avellino, both Feudi di San Gregorio and Mastroberardino made great examples that are very different in style.
- Don’t forget the other Italian whites from the same region, like Greco di Tufo and Falanghina (which can be more affordable).
