Hamas diverts humanitarian cement for bases

  A.P. photo/ Nasser Ishtayeh

The Gisha Legal Center for Freedom of Movement NGO rebuked “Israel for preventing the reconstruction of Gaza by restricting the supply of cement, water, sanitation and health care and electricity.”

Humanitarians pleaded that Israel let cement into Gaza.  Israel let some in, for a British WWI memorial.  Israel prepared to let more in for infrastructure.  Then it learned that Hamas had seized some of the first shipment for its own bunkers and bases.  Now Israel is reconsidering withholding the second shipment.

Hamas cynically exploits humanitarian sentiment to boost its military capability  http://www.imra.org.il/  Independent Media Review Analysis, 8/16).

Meanwhile, anti-Zionists continue to blame Gaza's plight entirely on Israel.

Weeks ago, I reported other Hamas theft of humanitarian aid.  The humanitarians should denounce Hamas for stealing from civilians and spoiling their building plans.  These tender hearts do not acknowledge Israel’s original need to embargo Gaza.  Their sympathy is misplaced and unjust.

Many people are deceived by those humanitarian organizations and by the compliant media, which denounce Israel for defensive measures.  They blame Israel, although the Palestinian Arabs signed a peace agreement with Israel but made war on it.  Israel withdrew from Gaza to let its Arabs build what they want. No embargo, then.  Nevertheless, Hamas built a war machine and initiated a war.

Israel’s critics also denounce whoever upholds Israeli reactions to Hamas treachery but not the treachery.  They evince little understanding of war requirements and legal entitlements, such as embargoes.  Are they sincere or just uninformed?

Gaza is th cesspit from which most of the world's terrorist problems flow. The continued subjugation of the majority Palestinian population is what turns them to illegal acts, ultimately they have no reason to behave reasonably because they themselves are not treated reasonably. Jews arrive from far away countries and the land and possessions of Palestinians is given so that they can enjoy a better future whilst ignoring the future of the Palestinian nation. Where is the land of milk and honey where Jews and Palestinian Arabs lived in harmony for thousands of years? It's buried beneath the Multi story apartment blocks housing those born in Moscow, Munich and Manchester and these buildings will be the ultimate gravestone for the so called Middle East Peace process

Malcolm, you say Gaza terrorism stems from dispossession of Arabs. Did you know that Israel evacuated from Gaza? Do you know that the terrorist ideology is to dispossess the Jews? Terrorism, like antisemitism, does not depend on what Jews.

Do you know that the Arabs of Judea-Samaria rule and oppress themselves? Israel does not oppress them. Do you know that Judea-Samaria is mostly vacant and that the so-called settlements take up only about 3% of the land area? So what are you talking about?

About 1,400 years ago, the Arabs conquered the Land of Israel. The Muslims drove out many Jews and oppressed them, as they oppressed Christians, throughout the Mideast. Three-fourths of the Arabs there now immigrated right after the big modern Zionist immigration. Arabs in the Territories did not call themselves "Palestinian" until the 1960s. What do you mean that "Jews and Palestinian Arabs lived in harmony for thousands of years?" You are misinformed. Better read my articles!

Mr Schulman, if your articles are as prejudiced as some of the comments you have made in your response then I suggest that your articles aren't worthy of the time that I would need to spend to read them. I have spent the last 20 years travelling in the Middle East and the last thing I am is misinformed. Your one eyed view of regional politic does you and your cause no credit at all and will certainly not help in finding a solution to a problem that continues to fester and poison world politics. Palestine is the ancient area that incorporates Israel so to suggest that the Arabs who have lived there for centuries are not Palestinian is to grossly misrepresent the reality but then again, perhaps that is your intention.

I apologise for spelling your name incorrectly in my previous response Mr Shulman

Malcolm apologizes for misspelling my name but suggests that I may intend to misrepresent. He says I do my cause ill, but what does his name-calling do to his? Just disagree, don't make it personal.

You misunderstood my stating that the Palestinian Arabs did not start calling themselves "Palestinian" until fairly recently. By that I mean they did not consider themselves a separate nationality (which would have more of a claim to a state, though they already have one, Jordan). There is not much to separate them from the prevailing Arab culture, religion, and language.

The conflict is not up to Israel to solve, it is up to the Muslims to reform, become tolerant, and stop making war, but not only with Israel, also with Iraq, Afghanistan, Philippines, Thailand, ethnic cleansing in Sudan, Pakistan, Kashmir, Bangladesh, and threats to take over Europe. This is a broader picture than Palestine.

Dear Mr Shulman, It was you that became personal by calling me misinformed without any understanding of what knowledge I had. My self correction of the spelling of your name was a courtesy. Please don't patronise me and your readers by oversimplifying the current situation. Palestinian Arabs have more in common with ethnic Israelis, which is not surprising as they have lived together for hundreds of years. They are traders and merchants unlike Jordanians who are mainly nomads. The reality is that the Zionist movement that promoted and imported millions of Jewish people from Eastern Europe and planted them in territory formerly shared by ethnic Jews and Arabs are the primary cause of the tension that has existed for more than half a century. Until the fundamental cause of this poison is addressed the cesspit that is Gaza, with its fences and walls will continue to spew death and destruction.
