The Muslims in Haiti are still rebuilding and in need or our help! Let us remember them in our prayers and our charity. The Muslims in Haiti have had to endure so much since that devastating earthquake and keeping them in our minds and hearts is yet another test of our ability to help the oppressed within our community. We are all to provide what we can whether it is dua (supplication), time or money. These are our brothers and sisters and we are one ummah (community).
The Islamic Foundation of Haiti has been painstakingly rebuilding their community’s masjid and Islamic School and has requested the help of us all in that effort to rebuild. This is an opportunity to give charity that will be ongoing in this life and the hereafter, God willing.Here is an excerpt of a recent letter sent from the Amir of the Islamic Foundation of Haiti.
" unfortunately since after January 12-2010 of after the Earth quake, even with all help of a Haitian Government. Have been received, nothing has been done to help victims of the Earth quake, to have a temporary house, until to day august 24, 2011.But of course yes a government spending 4.5 million of Euro, taking from the Earth quake financial received to political party campaign. Until to day, they could not give any proof where all this money has gone.Brothers and Sisters Ulema of Islam we would like to bring your attention about our situation to day 24 of Ramadan 1432, first of all we have being out of food possibilities since (2) two day a go to start and breaking a fasting.We are in need to cover iftar and Sheri to approximately 160 brothers and sister who are really under hard times at the moment to keep their fast but with faith they do. At this critical time we find ourselves in need of the generosity and compassion of our brothers and sisters around the world.The brothers at the mountain have a problem to perform salah at the mosque doing a raining time.We must cover the mosque Al-Islam that was destroyed completely doing the Earth quake, and we are rebuilding with local brothers. Please help us raise the money needed to finish rebuilding of the Mosque and the first Islamic School of Haiti."
The prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said “who ever built a mosque intending Allah’s pleasure, Allah would build for him a similar place in paradise” (Recorded by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
