The Newark Islam Examiner, Amtul Mussawir Mansoor has written a comprehensive account of the 44th International Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. It can be accessed here.
This convention, the largest Muslim gathering in the UK, was held in Hadeeqa-tul-Mahdi, Alton Hampshire, United Kingdom from July 30th till August 1st. It was attended by 28,000 people from around the world and millions more were watching it through “Muslim Television Ahmadiyya” channel. The addresses were simultaneously being translated in various languages, such as Arabic, French, and German among others. This conference was entirely run by volunteers. Many dignitaries applauded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK for its organization.
The purpose of this conference in the words of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) is: “ The primary purpose of this Convention is to enable every sincere individual to personally experience religious benefits; They may enhance their knowledge and –due to their being blessed and enabled by Allah, The Exalted- their perception [ of Allah ] may progress. Among its secondary benefits is that this congregational meeting together will promote mutual introduction among all brothers, and it will strengthen the fraternal ties within this Community..” (Ishtihar 7 Dec. 1892, Majmoo`ah Ishtiharat Vol. I, Page 340).
Under divine direction, the Promised Messiah (a.s.) established the institution of the Annual Convention in Qadian, India. At the first Annual Convention, 75 people attended. By the grace of God, this tradition has continued and now this 3-day gathering is held in over 50 countries of the world.
Where the Ahmadiyya Muslim brotherhood interacts with one another, those who have passed away during the preceding year are also remembered at the occasion. New converts to the Muslim faith are initiated into the community at the hands of the Khalifa of the Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad. Over 400,000 people from different faiths joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community this year by His grace.
The message of love and peace continues to attract souls across the globe. A slideshow featuring a few snapshots from the event is hereby presented. Enjoy!
