Forget the summary on Sunday's Honda Indy Edmonton. You all know how The Great Brian Barnhart (TGBB) took a win away from Helio Castroneves, thanks to the worst call or dumbest rule enforcement ever by a chief steward.
Has this EVER been considered blocking:
Helio picked a lane, stuck to it and retained the lead. Apparently, this is unacceptable to TGBB. You see, drivers now have pre-determined lanes they must stick to, as TGBB ridiculously explains here:
That's right, you can use the inside lane to pass someone, but if you're the leader, don't even think about making life remotely tough on the guy in P2! Unacceptable!
This might be the most anthetical-to-racing rule ever. In essence, the leader is PENALIZED. In what universe is this fair? In the universe arbitrarily ruled by TGBB, of course.
We know blocking when we see it. Multiple defensive moves, weaving, etc. What Helio did was SMART. In the world of TGBB, smart racing, real racing is not allowed.
Well, now we know.
NOTE: "TGBB" shamelessly stolen/borrowed from Robin Miller.
