As if we weren't busy enough with Christmas around the corner, our weekly installment of speculation on Verizon getting the iPhone has arrived. Verizon is currently preparing to launch a version of the Palm Pre named the Palm Pre Plus next year, and along with preparing for the Pre, they are doing upgrades to the network in order to be prepared for supporting the iPhone.
Earlier this month, the hot rumor was that T-Mobile rather than Verizon would get the iPhone deal once the exclusivity ends with AT&T. This rumor was fueled by increasingly rabid attack ads as Verizon touted the release of the Droid. And the move would make sense because T-Mobile runs a similar network to AT&T, so the iPhone would work on it without a new carrier-specific version needing to be released.
However, as I mentioned at the time, Apple opening up the iPhone to other carriers but not selling it on Verizon's network simply because of an ad campaign is the type of pettiness rarely seen in business and never seen in the big companies. If Apple can make money selling it on Verzion's network, then Verizon will get the iPhone. It's only a matter of when.

What about those ads that Apple has running right now? Those ads point out that you can talk on the phone while using applications that use data. (surf and talk at the same time). Apple is running these ads not ATT. This cannot be done on CDMA and that would limit the Iphone. If Verizon get an Iphone it will not be a full Iphone, maybe a mini. Lets drop all these rumors about this and wait to see what happens. This rumor has been around since the first Iphone.
