Chemicals, not overheating,
caused this iPhone to turn pinkish
Since its release, the iPhone 3GS has been dogged with reports of overheating, including a picture of a disfigured iPhone 3GS and advice from Apple about how to prevent your iPhone 3GS from overheating. But, despite reports, the iPhone 3GS is doing fine, and the reports of overheating have been mostly overblown.
The discoloration of the back of that white iPhone 3GS? According to frenchiPhone.com, the pink rectangle on the back of the iPhone was caused by a chemical reaction between the phone and a third-party case.
Another sign that the iPhone 3GS isn't suffering any type of massive overheating issue is that searches on Twitter for iPhone overheating or iPhone hot turn up discussions about articles on the issue, but only a very few actual tweets about an iPhone actually overheating.
This one might simply be a symptom of living in a hyper-connected world.
