There are plenty of trivia games available in the iPhone App Store, but one would be hard pressed to find one as fun and addictive as That Ain't It.
That Ain't It is somewhat of an iPhone conglomerate of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and Trivial Pursuit. Players spin a wheel to find out what category a question will fall under--World, Science, Culture, Words, Movies, Sports, Nature, or U.S. History--and then they have thirty seconds to identify which of the four given answers is not the correct one, or which one "ain't it."
To help them out are four lifelines at the bottom, which can either double the time, remove two answers, choose a different category, or give a new question.
Players have ten questions to answer, and the questions progress from easy to hard during the round. For each question answered correctly, the amount of money received depends on the difficulty level of the question. For every easy question, the money could be doubled, but for each hard question, the money could be quintupled. No money is earned for wrong answers. Up to $1 million can be won in a single round.
Once players accumulate $250,000, whether it's in one round or ten, they unlock the Speed Trivia mode, where they can answer as many questions as possible with no lifelines within two minutes.
As simple as the game sounds, it's really quite addictive, especially if you have one bad round of questions. Then it's impossible not to try to want to do one more round and win more money. It's also just as impossible to not want to play one more round even if you have a good round, that is, unless you win the million dollars. But then again, there's always the urge to want to try to win it twice. Also, since each round is only ten questions, it's a perfect little time killer for waiting rooms, standing in line, or waiting for the meeting to start.
Trivia fans or fans of the Buzz Quiz games will not be disappointed with That Ain't It. Even those who are looking for something educational can find something to like about That Ain't It, as it does not focus on pop culture, like so many other trivia games in the App Store do.
