I honestly could not pick one free game over the other this week. Both were fun in such distinct ways that I can't say one is better than the other. So, this week's top free iPhone games are Food Fight by Kirby Stephens Design and Trundle by Mobile Bros.
In Food Fight, the concept is quite simple. A chef must defend himself from the onslaught of angry fruits and vegetables. Why are the produce attacking, you ask? Well, the game offers this explanation:
Geez we don't know, it's just a game! Toxic waste, evil aliens, too long in the fridge, take your pick.
The chef has only his copper pot and his incredible ability jump to fend off his attackers. He cannot move from side to side, so timing in the jumps and throws are key to winning each battle. Players can either fight in a 12-course meal, where the chef battles one vegetable at a time, or in the Mixed Salad Challenge, where the vegetables attack in groups and the action only stops when the chef is finally bested.
The only element Food Fight lacks is an online leaderboard, but the lack thereof is not a deal breaker by any means.
And now for a completely different type of game, Trundle features a little furry or fuzzy blob that needs to get through different levels of terrain. Don't ask why, just go with the flow. Players move it left and right by tilting the iPhone and tap the screen to jump.
The graphics are strictly silhouette style with sunrise and sunset-like backgrounds. They're nothing special, yet they suit the game's mood very well. Since there is no time limit and the little fuzzy cannot die, there is no real pressure to the game, and the silhouette-style enhances this feeling.
This is not to say that the game is not challenging. The fuzzy has more to do than roll down a hill and jump over chasms. It has numerous puzzles to solve in order to move across the screen and enter the next area. The fuzzy may need to jump up to press a switch and activate a pulley or fetch something for a creature to coax them for help. There are currently only two levels, but each level contains too many puzzles to count that will keep any player occupied for hours at a time.
Obviously depending in your personal preferences, only one game may appeal to you, but don't forget that they are both free, so there's no harm in being greedy and trying them both.
UPDATE: According to the Mobile Bros. website, they have temporarily pulled Trundle for a graphics update. Apparently there is a game about to be released on the Wii that has many similar features, so the devs want to distinguish their title a little bit more. They hope it will be up soon.

Thanks, I found Food Fight and really like it, but I can't find Trundle in the app store. Can you post a link?
@James- I think I played this game at http://www.mindjolt.com/
