Everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit, and that includes the most popular iPhone game, Sudoku. There are more versions of this brain buster on the iPhone than any other, including picture hunt games and peg solitaire.
However, that doesn't mean that it doesn't get an interesting face-lift every now and then. Christmas Sudoku is one of those occasions.
Aside from the festive backgrounds, this version of Sudoku allows players to use holiday items instead of the typical numbers 1 through 9. Not only that, but instead of just one 3x3 grid, players have 3x3 GRIDS to wade through. So not only can no Christmas items (or numbers) repeat in each grid, but they cannot repeat in any row or column. It definitely adds another layer of challenge to the typical games.
In addition to playing a quick game or working one's way through the Campaign mode, players can also play against others either via local Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The player who finishes the board the fastest wins.
As an added bit of Christmas cheer, players can decorate a virtual Christmas tree and e-mail the tree with a holiday greeting to any friend stored in the iPhone's Contacts.
Christmas Sudoku may not be that revolutionary in the gameplay that it offers, but no one can deny its overwhelming Christmas spirit that exudes from its pores. Those who do not play much Sudoku anyway probably won't give this game a second glance, but to all those Sudoku fans looking for something a little different and perhaps a bit seasonal, Christmas Sudoku will not leave you disappointed.
