When it comes to blogging or starting a web site, two of the main factors that will determine your success are:
- How defined is your niche?
- How well do you position yourself as an expert or leader in this niche?
TimothySykes.com
When it comes to investing and trading stocks, there are many areas of expertise and many niches.
Trading penny stocks (namely shorting penny stocks) is easily one of the most specialized niches in the field.
Tim, who runs the site is a highly successful trader in this very small niche of trading.
He uses transparent tools such as Covestor.com to provide definitive proof of an expert status in this field. Tim is up several hundred percent over the last year or so with his trades, and you can see the details of every single verified trade. Tim is ranked #1 in both performance and popularity on Covestor.com (out of thousands of investors) which is an incredible feat.
Furthermore, Tim uses his blog to journal about his trading activity, both gains and losses. The transparency, the third-party verified accuracy of his claims, and the insane outperformance make Tim Sykes a house hold name among those looking to trade penny stocks. He is the expert in this field.
The Big Bucks
Because of this definitive expert status, Tim has been able to make a killing. Through selilng his subscription services, instructional DVDs and books and more, TIm easily brings in over $50,000 each month from his website and the products sold through the website.

Comments
Tim makes his money by touting a stock, his followers get in and he gets out. He makes money, his followers make some money about half the time.
@john
I disagree, Tim documents many of his followers making even more money than he does on his actual trading. If you look at Covestor, several of the top 10 in rankings are his subscribers which just reinforces his status as a leader in the field.
Tim makes way more off his products than his actual trading. Many of his followers make way more trading and Tim is fine with this; in fact, it helps him because his followers help sell his services.
