I'm so sick of Twitter. At least, I'm sick of writing about it. The microblogging and communication network is truly useful, and a must-have for anyone creating a personal or professional brand. Blah blah blah.
It's also really entertaining.
Here are some of my favorite diversions:
- Just doing searches of specific phrases on search.twitter.com is a fun game. (Thanks to @varga)
- Swearing on Twitter? Tons of it - Cursebird is good for a laugh.
- Looking for book recommendations? Try this.
- Into really good beer? Flying Dog's feed might clue you into a super-secret special in your area.
- Need a wine pairing suggestion? HelloVino will actually @reply you.
- Underdeveloped, but with lots of potential: RestroomCritic.
What are your favorite Twitter time wasters? No fair saying Twitter itself is a waste of time.

Hey man,
Thanks for writing about @flyingdog! I, too like cursebird. I'm wrking my way to the top, one expletive at a time. My favorite things on twitter these days:
Follow famous people. @jimmyfallon and @the_real_shaq are must-follows, I think.
@Beerdo allows you to tweet beer reviews, which then is re-broadcast through the @beerdo account.
@monitter - A web-based search tool for twitter. enter a few keywords and watch it go (try more general terms, like beer, obama, denver, iphone, dude, etc. to get the tweets moving quicker). but i see this being useful for monitoring your brand.
twitter {DOT} grader {DOT} com is ok for analysis of your brand, too. but scores are deceptive because you don't exactly know what goes into the algorithm to come up with the scores. but you get a good general trend of your brand's popularity.
And thanks for the @HelloVino link, it gave me a good idea.

Thanks for the mention, Eric, great article! We'll definitely follow a few of your suggestions.
@RestroomCritic - useful concept! We've also used @BostonTweet to see what's happening in Boston, MA on any given night.
Thanks again!
